The Scout Hall is owned and curated by the Vintage Vacations team (the UK’s original Airstream holidays) and is part of the portfolio of unique places to stay known as ‘The Shacks’
The old Chale Scout Hall was converted in 2012 to create another unique place to stay.
Situated on Church Place, just outside the village of Chale on the south coast of the Isle of Wight in an area of ‘outstanding natural beauty’ , The Scout Hall has stunning and far-reaching coastal views over to The Needles. The area is marvelous for walking …. even if just to the nearby pub!
The Scout Hall stands in it’s own private grounds with a lawned area, outside seating and a BBQ Externally the building has been restored using traditional materials and paint colours. Internally the space has been converted to ‘upside-down’ living accommodation to make the most of those views. The four generous downstairs bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are enclosed but the rest is open-plan, revealing original details of the space. The ‘Elvis’ bedroom has a small outside terrace.
Upstairs there is a living and dining space with doors opening onto the deck (did we mention the view?) and a quirky ships-galley style kitchen with all the usual facilities. Our eclectic style of interior design throughout – using many 20th century classics and a hefty does of twee-free humour.
Private off-road parking, copious central heating , WiFi, TV, Blue tooth speaker and fresh white linens and towels all add comfort to your stay.
Homemade cake and fresh flowers will always welcome you.
The Scout Hall is 10 mins walk from The Mission and both can be hired in tandem for large groups.

What our guests say…
Rachel Hinks guest at The Scout Hall “The Scout hall is an amazing place to stay in. Decorated throughout with a quirky vintage theme combined with scouting/guiding memorabilia. It is extremely well equipped throughout and the views from the deck are breathtaking. We also appreciated the little homely touches such as afternoon tea, fresh flowers & a stamped postcard.
We will definitely be recommending it to friends & family and plan to return either to Scout Hut or to other accommodation owned by Vintage Vacations.
Thank you for making our stay at The Isle of Wight Festival so special. Rating 5*
Giles Robertson, guest at The Scout Hall “Great location, nice and original styling.
Not too brittle for kids!
Perfect garden for family games
The bath is worth the trip just for the view. Would make a romantic get away but sleeps eight!
Easy to get to all the main attractions.
We loved Elvis Room.
My last two cars were in classic icons car book – stag and Volvo 1800, nice!” rating 5*
Sharon Linford Guest at The Scout Hall “We absolutely loved it!! The location was fantastic with amazing views, plenty of parking, nice and clean with a lot of time and effort gone into the retro decor. Nice friendly pub within walking distance, great food and friendly staff. Eight of us stayed comfortably with plenty of hot water for us all to shower. We will definitely visit again.” rating 5*
Amanda Hayes, guest at The Scout Hall “A simply awesome place to stay. Beautiful location with outside space for boys to run about safely. Brilliant facilities with everything you could need supplied – even a delicous Victoria Sponge to enjoy on arriving (it lasted about 5 mins!).
Comfy beds (I’ve never slept so well away from home!), plenty of BIG towels, oh the list could go on – it was quite simply perfect, thank you!”rating 5*
